Big Hedge Co. is celebrating a triple award even before the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) shows take place

They say that from tiny acorns grow mighty oaks but Big Hedge Co. is already staking its claim to be one of the fastest growing bespoke businesses across the horticultural industry; the specialists in ready-grown hedging and topiary have been asked by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) to design a selection of bespoke creations which will be displayed across the RHS Chelsea Flower Show next month.

In an exclusive three-year deal with the RHS, Big Hedge Co. will be supplying a selection of hedging and topiary in specially designed planters to dress the visitor, hospitality and VIP areas. The planters will include varieties such as Beech, Japanese Holly and Field Maple which have been chosen to complement the distinct lilac branding of this world-renowned event.

Despite being less than twelve months old, the Cheshire based company is already collaborating with sculptor David Harber at this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show to create a unique trade space to showcase his internationally-renowned sculptures which can be found in the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, the Liberty Centre in Cincinnati and the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in France.

Big Hedge Co. will also be working a little closer to home in July and joining forces with Cholmondeley Castle for the first time. Based outside Chester, Cholmondeley’s double back to back show garden at RHS Tatton Park Flower will reflect their magnificent, formal gardens and feature a selection of both hedging and topiary from Big Hedge Co.

Barry Grain, head gardener at Cholmondeley Castle said: “We are delighted to be working with a RHS Gold Medal winner in Big Hedge Co. for the first time. As Gold Medal winners at both Chelsea and Tatton Park, the premium quality of their product range complements our garden perfectly. We hope this partnership will be a medal winning combination this year!”

The news follows hot on the heels of the company’s recent announcement that Big Hedge Co. will offer existing and prospective clients the ability to purchase these premium ranges of mature hedging and topiary as well as irrigation and tools via their dedicated website from the beginning of May.

David Binks, Big Hedge Co. managing director said: “As a new business, we are delighted to work with such established events, well-known designers and recognisable brands. Attending one of these shows is often the pinnacle of someone’s career so to actively participate in three events within six months is testament to the quality of the product and level of service provided by the whole team.”

As part of a wider, environmental message David is also delighted with the opportunity to showcase the product as well as spread the word about the need for further habitat creation. He added: “According to the Wildlife Trust*, two thirds of England has been continuously hedged for 1000’s of years but there are now only thought to be about 450,000km of hedgerow left and only 190,000km are thought to be ancient or species-rich. Big Hedge Co. firmly believe that these ancient habitats should be cherished and more, sustainable environments created for future generations to enjoy.

The new transactional website will provide easy access to a range of instant habitats and allow people to personally enhance their local biodiversity for the benefit of all.”
