Matthew Wilson accepts ‘Designer-in-residence’ position at Clifton Nurseries

Following the acquisition by Gavin Jones Ltd of Clifton Nurseries, based in Maida Vale earlier this year, we are delighted to announce that Matthew Wilson has accepted a position as “Designer-in-Residence” at Clifton’s on a part time basis, as well as assuming an ambassadorial role for the Gavin Jones group of companies.

Matthew is perhaps best known as a regular expert panellist on BBC Radio 4’s Gardeners Question Time and for designing “God’s Own Country” the ‘Welcome to Yorkshire’ garden at Chelsea Flower show 2016, which was voted the People’s choice – considered to be one of the most prestigious award given at the show.

Matthew has over 20 years’ experience in the horticulture industry which includes 10 years with the Royal Horticultural Society where he was Curator of Hyde Hall Garden in Essex, Head of Site/Curator of Harlow Carr Garden in North Yorkshire, before being appointed as RHS Head of Gardens Creative Design. He then spent time as Associate Design Director at The Landscape Agency before joining Clifton Nurseries in February 2011. Apart from his skills in designing prestigious gardens, he is also a regular contributor of articles and features for the national press
