The Morgan Stanley Garden designed by Chris Beardshaw wins the BBC / RHS People’s Choice Award 2017

The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Chelsea Flower Show, sponsored by M&G Investments, is pleased to announce that the title of ‘BBC / RHS People’s Choice Award 2017’ in the Show Gardens category has been awarded to ‘The Morgan Stanley Garden’. This is the second time a Show Garden designed by Chris Beardshaw has won the hearts of the nation.

The garden, which was awarded a Silver-Gilt is inspired by the fractal geometry and patterns found in nature, music, art and communities. A sinuous path moves through three distinct garden areas, from verdant woodland to a central oak loggia and out onto a sun-drenched terrace.

After the show, the entire garden will be donated to Groundwork. This charity will redesign and repurpose the garden, benefiting three community and educational schemes in East London.

On winning the award Chris said: “I am thrilled to receive the People’s Choice award, it’s a fabulous award that means the most as it is voted for by the thousands of visitors and BBC viewers. I hope the garden continues to bring enjoyment to many more people when it is relocated to East London after the show.”

Voting online for their favourite Show Garden, Fresh Garden and Artisan Garden, the general public picked ‘The World Horse Welfare Garden’ by designers Adam Woolcott and Jonathan Smith as the winner of ‘BBC / RHS People’s Choice Award’ in the Artisan category. Ruth Willmott’s ‘The Breast Cancer Now Garden: Through the Microscope’ scooped the Fresh Garden title.
