Fourth win in four years for local timber buildings company at Chelsea Flower Show

Today marks four wins in 4 years for Norfolk based Crane Garden Buildings, as they win the 5 Star Tradestand award for their display at this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

Crane went all out this year, using their luxurious Garden Room with Veranda as the main attraction, with a cobbled pathway leading up to the building, and surrounded by a garden with flower beds made from corrugated steel, adding an intriguing texture to the display.

This year’s building is the vision of country elegance, with cedar shingle tiles on the roof that really help to brighten up the whole display, Georgian windows add to the traditional styling, and it has been painted in two colours from Farrow & Ball’s external paint range: Light Gray for the walls, and Pointing for the contrasting doors, windows and veranda.

The Crane Garden Room, as with all of their buildings, is built from high quality FSC® certified timber, and it appeals to those who aspire after a special place to use all year round as a retreat, to relax, to dine, or simply to entertain friends and family in while enjoying views of their surrounding garden.

The plants used are full of colour, helping to epitomise a luscious spring garden. Among the greens of the ferns, various grasses and hostas, there are jewels of different purples with lavender, acers and scabious, with pinks, yellows, and the occasional white of daisies and the vibrant red of azaleas, all shining out.

Peter Mortin, Crane’s National sales manager, is the designer of the garden, and he’s spoken about how he wants the garden to be achievable for everyone, and to leave visitors with inspiration for their own gardens: “All of the plants we use in the display are easy to obtain and grow, so everybody who has a Crane garden building knows that they can also achieve the garden to complement it.”

Once the Chelsea Flower Show is over, there will be opportunity to enjoy this building and the lovely garden around it still, as the building and all the plants are being moved to one of Crane Garden Buildings’ Show Centres, in Newbury, Berkshire, where it will be on show with the rest of their display buildings for visitors to come and admire.

Nick and James Crane, the company partners, are both very pleased, saying: “After four years, it is still a very humbling award to win at this most prestigious of flower shows, and as usual, our manufacturing, installation and gardening teams have all done amazing jobs to get us here.”

Crane Garden Building are a family run business who have been hand-making high quality timber buildings for over 40 years.
