Indoor Garden Design scoops prestigious Judge’s Commendation for a third year in a row, plus eight Gold Leaf Awards at eFig’s 13th Annual Awards

Indoor Garden Design was presented with eight Gold Leaf Awards along with the prestigious Judge’s Commendation, the equivalent of RHS Chelsea’s ‘Best in Show’, to honour the very best overall project from over 50 entries, at the eFig Awards, sponsored by Koberg. This is the third year in a row that this prize has been awarded to Indoor Garden Design.

The winning installation was designed by David Grace, director and co-owner of Indoor Garden Design for Sky Central, the new 45,000m2 flagship building with 3,500 employees where biophilia was imperative in the design of the building and interior planting was fundamental.

  • Around 25,000 plants were used, ranging in size from 3cm tall to 3.75m tall
  • 128 tonnes of compost, mulch and drainage materials were required
  • 65 varieties of plants were used plus 44 artificial trees, ranging from 2.5m – 3.75m tall

eFig Judge, Greg Redwood said: “It is a truly stunning and monumental installation. The enormous number of plants was incredible. Special mention should be made of the large grove of mature Olive trees, made from real aged trunks with artificial foliage. These were incredibly realistic and looked real until you were inches from the foliage. This is one of the most impressive sites I have ever seen. It was really well thought out and a remarkable piece of work.”

David Grace, co-owner of Indoor Garden Designs said: “The foresight of the client and that of their architect Hassell Studio’s was truly inspirational and gave us the freedom to create an amazing scheme. The whole Indoor Garden team, which includes those who worked on this installation project on a near-daily basis and also the support admin team in our head office, made terrific efforts to deliver the client’s brief within timescale and on budget. We are very proud of the result.”

Neil Usher, workplace director at Sky Central said: “We wanted a rich, organic interior landscaping scheme that would complement the use of timber and natural materials in the architecture and fit-out of Sky Central, and create as seamless as possible a transition between internal and external space. The scheme makes a vital contribution to an incredible workplace experience.”
