Comment from the SGD in response to the release of the RHS ‘Gardening in a changing climate’ report:

We welcome the RHS Gardening in a Changing Climate report and the valuable guidance and insight it provides.

Our Members have long been aware of changing climatic conditions throughout the UK and overseas and, as skilled planting designers, have the expertise to adapt plant palettes and create conditions within which a wide variety of plants will thrive.

SGD Members create and plant private and public green spaces that provide recognised holistic health benefits to users, as well as habitats and food sources for wildlife. Critically these spaces can also alleviate flood risk and generally reduce localised environmental impacts of climate change.
